It was one of the scariest moments of my life seeing my mom near death. It changed how I see things. Some things became more important to me and other things became less important to me. Due to this experience you will be seeing a lot more of me. You may be wondering what the heck does my mom being in the hospital have to do with me being on social media?!?? Well, that is what I am writing this for.
Here Are A Few Of The Reasons Why…
1. EVERYTHING IS NOT ABOUT ME ANYMORE
I hate to say it but I felt as if I was in a position where I was too comfortable. Since I was able to provide for myself through my Businesses and Self-Employement. I was in no rush to write more blogs for my website or produce more content for social media because I was taken care of. I had no one depending on me to provide more than I already was.
When I saw my mom in that situation I had no idea what I was going to do if she wasn’t able to regain her independence. I don’t want to ever feel like that again. I am my mom’s only child and I want to feel secure that if something were to happen I could take care of her without putting the pressure on her erderly parents. That definitely put some fire under my tail to work more for better things.
2. SPONSERED POST WILL HELP ME PROVIDE
Secondly, I am hustling. Another reason you will see me posting more is because I am blessed to be in the position where I can make money from social media. This will help me take care of all the work I missed while my mom was in the ICU (intensive care unit) and while I was doing her 24/7 home care once she was discharged. This can also help me build a savings or invest my profit so I have the ability to help my mom even more in the future.
3. POSTING IN GENERAL HELPS ME PROVIDE
Sponsored posts aren’t the only way I make money from social media. I’m a business owner and social media is beneficial to my business. Eighty percent of JodiDiamond.com visitors are from social media. If you’re reading this blog you may have come from my Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, or Snapchat. Every time I post a picture on instagram I get website clicks even when the picture or caption mentions nothing about my website. It works like this, a post leads to profile visits, profile visits lead to website clicks, website clicks lead to website visits, website visits lead to money. Posting in general is just another way I can put myself in a position to help others.
4. I WAS PLANNING ON RETURNING EVENTUALLY
I was planning a come back anyway. Of course not to the extent that I will be returning now but I was still planning on getting back into the grove of things. Once I announced my return to social media and everyone welcomed me with open arms…things went haywire. I am excited to return to social media God willing seriously this time.
5. I WANT TO FOCUS MORE ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP
I have a new appreciation for my job. I have always loved being an entrepreneur but now I am beyond thankful to have such a flexible job. If I had a normal job I would’ve been fired after missing a month and a half of work whether my mom was in the hospital or not. This situation has made me want to focus more on being a full time entrepreneur which means I’ll need to produce more blogs, more social media posts, and more products.
I saw how beneficial it is to have someone in the family with a flexible schedule. While family members could not be at the hospital with my mom because they were working, I could. My mother was unawarely putting herself in danger and needed someone with her at the hospital 24/7. Also due to my mom’s brain injury she would call the nurses for important things such as going to the bathroom and food. Once the nurses arrived she would forget that what she asked for, so I was glad that I was there to communicate with the nurses and tell them what she needed. I would not have left her side, job or not. I am so thankful I have a job where I can take breaks, slow down, or speed up as life changes.
Everything that has happened has made me want more in life, not just for me, but for others. I still believe in being content with what you have but now I realize if God blessses with excess I can use that to take care of others and give to people in need. So when you see me posting on social media now you know I’m hustling for reasons than just one.
I would like to say Thank You to all the people who have prayed for my mother’s well being and all the people who have remained supportive of me. 😘

1. LEARN HOW TO COOK SOME NEW RECIPES
When winter approaches you envision get-togethers with the family and warm old fashion comfort food. This is great time to ask your family members for the recipes to your favorite holiday dishes so you can enjoy them as you please. Perhaps it would be an even better opportunity to try some recipes you have never had before.
2. ORGANIZE YOUR HOME
Organize your home! There are so many advantages to having an organized home. For starters having an organized home has been proven to lower stress, anxiety, and depression for those who suffer with it. It will also help you avoid buying two of the same thing or any other unnecessary items that you did not need. Besides you spend more time indoors in the winter and lets be real no one enjoys being trapped in a messy home.
3. ORGANIZE YOUR STORAGE
Yes, when I was talking about organization I meant organizing EVERYTHING. That includes your basement and storage unit as well. It may be a good time to look through your storage for things to re-gift for Christmas if you’re the re-gifting type of person because I know I am.
4. USE WINTER TO PREPARE YOUR SPRING/SUMMER BODY
Winter is the best time to go to the gym especially with all the deals gyms have around the new year. Going to gym will give you the opportunity to get out of the house, listen to your favorite music, and watch videos as you work out. The best part is after you have finished your hot and sweaty workout you can walk outside into a chilly brisk air that instantly cools you off. It’s almost as satisfying as walking into a heavily air conditioned building after being outside in 3 digit temperatures except the outdoors are like the air conditioned building.
5. MAKE A NEW YEARS RESOLUTION
Create a new years resolution that is really meaningful. Go a step further and begin planning out how you are going to execute your new years plan. Only a fool says they are going to do something without figuring out how they are going to do it.
6. BEGIN WORKING ON YOUR NEWS YEARS RESOLUTION
Practicing your New Years resolution before the new year may seem strange but there are many good reasons to do so. It will allow you to revaluate your New Year’s goals to be more realistic. This will also give you time to figure out the challenges of achieving your goals and figure out how to conquer them. That way you will not be sitting around two weeks after the new year feeling like a loser because you have already messed up.
7. TAKE SOME CLASSES
As the chilly winter breeze blows spend some time expanding your knowledge. I have taken business night classes at a college during the winter and it was a great decision. There is no distraction of parties and warm weather. It gives you a chance to get out the house and feel good about yourself as well.
8. GIVE TO CHARITY
Charity work is a great thing to be apart of all year around but there is no better time to lend a helping hand than in the winter. This is the time where it isn’t ideal for homeless people to live on the streets with the below freezing winter nights. Homeless shelters need donations of socks and warm clothes. Winter also be would be a great time to donate to your local goodwill/thrift store for people who may only be able to afford to shop for their gifts at the thrift store.
9. PREPARE A CHRISTMAS SHOPPING LIST
It doesn’t matter if it is weeks ahead of time or 30 minutes before you leave the house for a holiday shopping adventure. A list will help you stay on task resulting in a faster shopping trip. Having a list will prevent overbuying, forgetting someone, and under estimating the budget.
10. PREPARE NEXT YEARS BUDGET
The very first JodiDiamond.com blog “How To Be Successful At A Young Age” talks about money and the importance of knowing how to manage it. Every year there should be a plan of how much money you expect to make and how you plan to manage it.
11. BEGIN PREPPEING FOR TAXES
As boring as it may sound it will be even more boring when have other things going on. Organize your receipts, begin thinking of your possible deductions, and get you employment information. It will be a huge weight off your shoulders so during tax season the only thing you have to think about is your return.
12. PURCHASE OFF SEASON CLOTHING
A lot of people do not think of this or aren’t in the mood to rummage through the clearance rack but it is beyond worth the hassle. I have the cutest winter hoodies and sweaters that I got for 3 to 5 dollars at popular mall stores during summer. I’m not going to lie it felt weird shopping for sweaters in 90 degree weather. Although I think it was the best idea ever I saved so much money so this winter I will be shopping for summer clothes!
13. DECORATE YOUR HOME
Since you will be spending much more time indoors during the season you might as well turn your home into a paradise. You can spend your time picking out what you want your home to look like on Pinterest (in case you want to follow me -> Jodi Diamond’s Pinterest) and make it come to life. There is nothing like having a well decorated home during the holiday season.
14. LEARN SOMETHING WITH LIFELONG BENEFITS
Whether you acquire a foreign language or learn how to change a tire these are things that will benefit you until you leave this earth. Think of it as a lifelong investment rather than something to just keep you busy.
15. LEARN SOME WINTER HACKS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR WINTER EASIER
Growing up in Wisconsin I have a long list of Winter hacks that saved my time and energy. You can check out JodiDiamond.com’s new blog “10 Winter Hacks That You Never Heard Of”. This will make your snowy days a lot less stressful.
16. LEARN WHAT TO DO IN A BLIZZARD
This is actually important to do. A blizzard can happen anywhere even in southern states. Of course blizzards are not as common in the south as they are in the Midwest but when it does happen it is very difficult because these states are not well prepared and usually end up having to shut the city down for an extended period of time. There are better things to worry about in the case of an extreme blizzard than just getting groceries.
17. PACK A WINTER CAR EMERGENCY KIT
I always have a car emergency kit with mats to put behind my tires incase I get stuck on slippery snow, extra outerwear, tire chains, and a couple of snow removal brushes. But after all I’m a Wisconsinite so I have never experienced a winter where I or a family members car did not become stuck.
I know this is similar to donating to charity but volunteering is more about your time rather than your money. One of the things on my bucket list is to volunteer at hospital. The options are endless on volunteer work. Volunteer work will make you feel good and look great on a resume.
19. GET A HOLIDAY JOB
Getting a holiday job not only will fill up your schedule but it will give you extra money for holiday shopping. Maybe a holiday job will help you save up for that new car or television you wanted.
20. SET YOUR HOME UP FOR THE WEATHER
Create a footie basket so when guests arrive and take of their shoes they can put their feet into some warm cushioned footies. Spread throw blankets across your bed while you light candles infused with your favorite scents. There is nothing like a cozy home!
21. FIND OUT HOW TO SAVE MONEY DURING THE HOLIDAYS
You can make a list and search to see if there are any coupons for things you have on your list. Another option is re-gifting which giving someone a gift that was given to you by another person. Remember it’s only mean if the other person finds out.
22. FIND OUT HOW TO SAVE MONEY DURING WINTER
Winter costs can add up between heat bills, hats, gloves, coats, and street salt ruining your favorite shoes. Ask your parents and friends for some of their tricks on recovering from the costly holidays.
23. MAKE FREEZEER MEALS
Depending on where you live the snow can make going out to eat more difficult. That means more home cooked meals which isn’t necessarily a bad things but it can be very time consuming. Spending a day making large quantities of different foods and freezing it. This will make home cooked meals much easier and way cheaper then eating out in the first place.
24. GET AHEAD WHILE EVERYONE IS CHILLING
As bogus as this sounds this is the perfect time frame to get ahead. A large amount of people suffer from seasonal depression better known as S.A.D. during winter. This means they may not feel as up to things as usual. Even some people who enjoy winter see it more as season to relax and enjoy family. It is great time to dominate social media, YouTube, and the blogging community. People are indoors on winter break looking for entertainment and that is where you step in. I have used this trick for years and now I call Winter “money season”.
25. TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THE SEASON
This sounds similar to what we talked about in the previous point however I just wanted to expand on it. Taking advantage of the season is more than just growing yourself during winter. It is about making sure you enjoy who you are around this holiday season because you don’t know who will be around next year. Instead of sitting around moping because you aren’t experiencing your preferred weather make this a season of productivity. So by the time your favorite season arrives you are prepared for it and in a much better place in life to enjoy it. JodiDiamond.com is all about bettering the lives of others and we want you to enjoy every moment of your life because it can change in an instant. Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas from JodiDiamond.com.
